Australian researchers at a Melbourne university, recently noted that Broccoli could be a new treatment for Asthma according to a media report.
Eating 2 cups of steamed Broccoli per day, was found to help Asthmatics prevent their condition from worsening and to assist them to breathe normally. Also said to assist with reversing the damaged linings and narrowing of the , plus could be useful for people who are resistant to the current medication.
Broccoli was originally cultivated in Italy and its name means ‘cabbage sprout’. Other health benefits that have previously been listed relate to reducing chances of cataracts, ulcers, rheumatoid arthritis, birth defects during pregnancy and heart disease. Assisting with boosts to the immune system and absorption of calcium are further notations from those in the know.
Steam broccoli and toss with tofu and soy sauce for a healthy main course or steam and sprinkle with fresh lemon juice for a simple snack. It can be eaten raw dunked in your favourite dip.
